Tylenol reduces social pain

Researchers found that participants in a study who took 1000 mg of Tylenol per day for 30 days reported experiencing less hurt feelings, higher self-esteem, and lower anxiety and sadness than participants taking a placebo.

How many of you all take Tylenol daily for whatever reason? Does this ring true at all? What do you all think about the cost/benefits of this?

Taking 2 Tylenol plus 2 Ibuprofen has been proven to work as well as Tylenol with Codeine and is non-addictive.

They say it's safe if you don't exceed 1000mg per dose or 4000mg a day for 10 days. What is unclear to me is if lower dosages, such as 500mg per day, can be taken safely for longer than 10 days.

Either way, I'm gonna try it for 10 days or so and see if I notice a difference. I'll let you all know how it goes.

People do the same with certain kinds of SSRI's

Do you consider 500 mg a low dose?

Anyone out there in the medical field wanna weigh in on this? I can't find any info on the net about the risk of 500 mg per day for extend periods.

Interesting read. The logic behind it is pretty straightforward and that's a little unnerving. Kind of wary of understanding psychotherapy right off the bat

500mg is a therapeutic dosage (meaning it is effective, but one should not construe from this that means it is a low dosage). It should not be taken for extended periods.

Worse if you mix it with Tylenol though

I stick with alcohol + ibuprofen

Hmm, I don't know what to make of this. To my knowledge, you can only take 500 mg of over the counter Tylenol, unless you break the tablets in half. But then, like already mentioned, you're possibly going out of the therapeutic range for Tylenol by itself (it is dosed at 325 mg when combined with opiate analgesics).

Speaking of analgesics, why wouldn't an anti inflammatory work as well? You lower your risk of liver toxicity, but replace it with gastrointestinal issues. Many take naproxyn or ibuprofen for years - on a daily basis with no resultant issues.
