The very front of your hairline looks like an extreme version of what mine has looked like since last summer. This is something I've done a lot of research on, but here's the rundown:
Your options for proven treatments are limited. There's basically three categories of treatments that are worth your time: DHT inhibitors (i.e. Propecia), growth stimulants (i.e. Rogaine), and anti-inflammatories (i.e. Nizoral).
Unfortunately, finastride (Propecia and similar meds) is really the only thing that's going to halt or at least, significantly slow down MPB. I say "unfortunately," because it sounds like that option is not possible for you. Rogaine is very good at regrowing hair (especially at the crown). Nizoral will help any possible inflammation these products may cause. It's marketed as an anti-dandruff shampoo, but it helps lower DHT levels (DHT is a big factor in hair loss).
I'm currently taking the generic version if Proscar, which is a 5 mg pill. I split it into fourths, since most people only take about 1 mg of finastride. I also use the Nizoral shampoo, which you can get for like $15 at most places that sell shampoo. If nothing else, it cosmetically thickens your hair, making for a more volumized mane. I'm also getting ready to purchase some Kirkland Minox, since I'd like to get some regrowth at the front of the hairline. You can get a six-month supply of the stuff for like $35 on eBay.
My advice to you would be to check out an online community that specifically deals with this sort of thing. Hairlosstalk.com is an excellent forum for this. There's a wealth of information on what I've covered. You'll be able to communicate with people who are going through the same thing, weigh your options, and read first-hand experiences with these treatments.
