Thinning hair... what should I do with what is left?

I am approaching my mid 20's and my hair has been thinning since I was about a junior in high school. I started off with a LOT of hair so it was not all that noticeable until recently. Now I am faced with the situation of my old hair cut really not looking all that great. I was wondering if anyone here had any suggestions as to styles/cuts I should go with to help the hair I have left look as good as possible.

Thanks!

You still got lots of hair. You can go on Propecia/Proscar which will slow down the loss rate. It's a bit expensive and there may possibly be long term fertility side effects. No one knows as it has not been on the market long enough.

Otherwise start cutting your hair shorter.

Or you can go to GNC and buy some biotin. Take it daily.

Trim up the sides down to a 1 at the ears, brah. You're looking like Bozo right now.

Also, if you treat your scalp with fish oil every morning after your shower, and with cinnamon oil every night before bed, you'll see substantial regrowth.

I gave propecia a shot and had horrible side effects, i turned into the hulk... seriously like anything would set me off, which is totally opposite of my character.

It has however worked well for my brother, everyone is different.

.

I think I am going to shorten the sides, I "Kramered" up the hair a bit for illustrative purposes

Buzz it to a number 2. Try some rogaine.

The very front of your hairline looks like an extreme version of what mine has looked like since last summer. This is something I've done a lot of research on, but here's the rundown:

Your options for proven treatments are limited. There's basically three categories of treatments that are worth your time: DHT inhibitors (i.e. Propecia), growth stimulants (i.e. Rogaine), and anti-inflammatories (i.e. Nizoral).

Unfortunately, finastride (Propecia and similar meds) is really the only thing that's going to halt or at least, significantly slow down MPB. I say "unfortunately," because it sounds like that option is not possible for you. Rogaine is very good at regrowing hair (especially at the crown). Nizoral will help any possible inflammation these products may cause. It's marketed as an anti-dandruff shampoo, but it helps lower DHT levels (DHT is a big factor in hair loss).

I'm currently taking the generic version if Proscar, which is a 5 mg pill. I split it into fourths, since most people only take about 1 mg of finastride. I also use the Nizoral shampoo, which you can get for like $15 at most places that sell shampoo. If nothing else, it cosmetically thickens your hair, making for a more volumized mane. I'm also getting ready to purchase some Kirkland Minox, since I'd like to get some regrowth at the front of the hairline. You can get a six-month supply of the stuff for like $35 on eBay.

My advice to you would be to check out an online community that specifically deals with this sort of thing. Hairlosstalk.com is an excellent forum for this. There's a wealth of information on what I've covered. You'll be able to communicate with people who are going through the same thing, weigh your options, and read first-hand experiences with these treatments.

Thinning hair looks best when kept shorter so that the remaining hair is even in length. I use a 3.75 metal all over but you still have sufficient hair for a scissor cut. Just find a good stylist to keep it even all-over.

Cut it all off and stuff it in a tiny pillowcase.

I've seen mixed reviews for the laser hairbrushes, but it's supposed to help all over.
Get one and be our Guinea Pig. Seriously.
