Loake lasts in general are rather generous. I would suggest at least half a size from my experience.

Yeah, I went down by a half size. The shoes are slightly too long for me to wear. Width is good.

I usually go down a full size with Tyrwhitt shoes. I have one pair a full size and a half down.

By the way, I got my stuff in the mail today from CT that I ordered during that sale. Only thing is that I didn't order any shoes - only shirts.

How is it?

got part of my order today, have not gone home to take a look, but my wife told me it was only one pair of shoes, as opposed to the 3 I ordered. We'll see when the rest show up.

My order hasn't arrived yet, but based on the posts here I expect that the shoes I chose are going to be too big. If that is indeed the case, I will make available size 10 chestnut calf derbys and size 10 black chelsea boots. I'll keep y'all posted.

Uh oh. I usually wear 9-9.5 US (9.5 for English-made Polo's and Allen-Edmonds and 9 for some Italian-made ones).

I ordered CT/Loake shoes in 8.5 UK.

Should I have ordered 8 UK instead?

I wear a 9.5 US in every shoe I have ever worn (except maybe cole-haan, which pinch my toes). I have some CTs in 9 UK (chelsea boots), and some in 8.5 UK (semi-brouges, captoes). I ordered my derbys and wholecuts in 8.5 UK, after having to return a pair of captoes which were 9 UK because they were to big.

Not sure how this information will help you other than to say that I think 8.5 is probably the right call.

Order (1 pair of shoes, 1 shirt, 1 belt) arrived today. The box was in terrible shape - looked like somebody backed a truck over it, damaging not just the outer shipping box but the shoe box inside. No apparent damage to the shoes, though.

Depends on the last. Anything in Loake last 029 (ie the Norwich - the side-seamed wholecut) will be a little wide at the heel, I would say definitely go down a full size - in some cases maybe even a a size and a half although then the issue of the width at the forefoot (right term?) pops up. For example, I wear a 10.5 US normally. My Norwich is at 10UK. Heel slippage central. I tried on some 9.5 UK and there was not enough difference on the heel width to make them snug enough for me. On the other hand, I am wearing some black calf leather CT/Loake brogued boots, 10F size, on 026 last and the heel is somewhat snugger than on the 029 HOWEVER having a higher arch would make them close much better. P.s. the Loake website lists the last number for each shoe.

If your shoes are a little too big, you might want to try an insole. It could reduce them by a half size.

I brought a pair of (I think) Tricker's or Alfred Sargent country brougues at thirft store a few months ago for $4 that were marked as an English 8E and, with the insoles, fit me very well.

Regards,

LBW

Bear in mind that Cole Haan has undergone significant changes in recent years, not to mention that there are different lasts.
