Alice in Wonderland Thread

I saw the Alice in Wonderland 3-d at midnight last night. I thought the movie was really good. Graphics were great, and the story was very interesting. I really enjoyed the end battle scene taking place on the desert that you hadn't noticed was a chess board.
One thing that struck me, though, was the use of the 3D. I really wasn't that big of a fan. The movie was great, graphics were good, story was good, acting was good, etc. It just seemed like the 3D was unnecessary. There were only 4 or 5 moments during the entire movie where you notice something awesome in 3D and were like "WHOooaaaaaa... cool." And none of those moments were big plot moments. Just random stuff like the smoke w/ the blue caterpillar, or the cheshire cat, or something like that. It seemed like the 3D was done just to do it more than it was done because it added something special to the movie.
Don't get me wrong, the 3D was cool the entire movie, I just don't feel like it added much.
Oh, BTW, I also really enjoyed all the storyline tie-ins with The Jabberwocky.
Anyway, this movie gets a big thumbs up from me. you should see it if you get the chance.

Anyone else have thoughts?

One of the RubeBabes just texted me almost the same thing. Did you and 'Lish kidnap my kid and take her to the movie?

We tried kidnapping you, but you weren't home.

I thought La Hathaway did a great job. Although it was surprising how small a role her character played.

Going tonight. Already bought tickets for my and my two teenage boys (both big Tim Burton fans). We're not going to the 3-D version.

Will let you know. Am looking forward to it.

Burton + Depp is an automatic must see for my gf. So, yeah, I'm gonna have to sit through this one soon.

I'm looking forward to this one. Unlike in Harry Potter, I don't think HBC is fapworthy in this one though.

I'd say it's probably safe. There are no outright displays of sexuality or inappropriateness. All of the humor like that is relatively subtle/adult. Although some things might scare them, like the Hatter.

I caught a matinée showing today. Didn't much care for the movie. Full of tired action movie gimmicks and black and white simplification. The ambiguity of the books and the tension and fun that resulted from that is gone. Also gone is the nonsense. The movie seemed like some kind of tweeny Narnia tribute. And I agree that the 3-d felt tacked on. But, of course, don't take my word for it. In my soul I am very grumpy and bitter probably.

i hope to watch it this week

It's on my "must see" list ... but a part of me fears it will run the book ... which I read while on acid ... way back in the days. Then gain ... even the book may be nothing like I remember.
