My girlfriend never gets paid on time

She has worked at a small italian restaurant for a couple years now

more often than not, she will get her pay cheque, go next door to the bank to cash it, and the bank will tell her that the restaurant does not have money in the account to cash the cheque

the store manager will tell her to just put the cheque in the atm, wherein because her paycheques have bounced so many times, that her entire account will be on hold for at least a week.

it will generally take 2 to 3 weeks for her to actually get any money


I realize this is really bad and more than likely illegal

what should she do? Can we (this is me fantasizing about it) fuck them over

Tell her to collect all the owed wages, and get a new job. If the place can barely afford to pay a waitress/hostess/manager whatever she is, they are in big trouble. Plus, this is a pain in the ass. So, a job hunt FTW.

Doesnt restaurant gig = making bulk of your money in tips?

My checks were never more than $20 after taxes were taken out.

I had a situation like that, and I told them than unless they started paying me in cash, or cheques that don't bounce I'd quit.
