Yes, but thast requires an orange to somehow be worse in some way compared to orange juice, even to an individual. I can't imagine a person who prefers orange juice to an orange has any gustatory sense.

I can't imagine a person who can't imagine that at different times in life/during the day/week one wants different kind of food even with nearly the same taste. Do you like chocolat? Or Chocolat milk? Or Chocolat mousse? Or chocolat icecream. Or chocolat cake?

Subsitute a favorite foodstuff for chocolat if you like.

I agree on that point, but I (and I assume Flambeur) were speaking more generally (e.g. someone who drinks orange juice regularly but almost never eats oranges themselves).

I should note: when I say I make eggs with olive oil, I mean that I grease the pan with a dollop of oil. I don't pour it on my eggs or anything.

2 bottles of water

Handful of organic tortilla chips with Newman's Own spicy salsa (pretty good stuff)

Wheat linguine with Conne's Famous Garlic Pasta Sauce and meatballs
2 glasses wine

1 Lindt 70% cocoa bar (pretty small, 1.2 oz. i think?)

I don't think anyone here is stupid enough to assume you were pouring olive oil on your eggs like it was sriracha or something.

Notice the quotes around 'healthy' (generally an orthographic marker for a useless term). I was referring to the collective idea of olive oil as 'healthy', when its basic structure is no more 'healthy' than many other oils. I was not decrying olive oil as some toxic substance. I've said the same about oatmeal, cheerios, and other foods in the past. Essentially, I'm trying to get people to think beyond food labels and move their understanding beyond memorizing prescriptions of 'healthy foods' (cf. pretty much every other post I make in this forum. sigh... except for sfields comment about quality over quantity I really dont understand the whole dieting thingy. From what I know about your life is that youre a student and a guvmint deskjockey, so you hardly do any (physical) labor to speak of, which means that all that food you listed isnt nessecary.

Same type of list, but my suggestion:

Breakfast : one egg, slice of toast with cheese, glass of orange juice.

lunch : small ham and cheese sandwich

dinner : whatever you fancy, be it more whole foods (no fastfood)

and stop the snacks in between. For drinks coffee or tea would be fine, limit your amounts of softdrinks and just order some water with your lunch..

CDFS, are you serious? Unless you squeeze fresh OJ daily and eat the pulp + membranes, the benefits to eating a whole orange over drinking typical processed and pasteurized crap are pretty clear to me.

Olive oil isn't "healthy" in the manner that broccoli or spinach is, but if you look at its use throughout the Mediterranean you can see why it's a significant component of that cuisine. It's one of the better fats you can use, and mainly because it tastes so good and is so easy to come by. Just like avocado, it's rich in calories, but again that shouldn't be your biggest concern. I think food is about enjoyment first, and temperance second. (And that heirarchy can only exist if the second is always considered).

Were we talking about factory made OJ the whole time? News to me. Even if we were my arguments hold water still. There's always a better healthier choice out there. Oranges as a fruit aren't even the best choice. So its byproducts can't be either.

For the record, I was speaking of fresh OJ. Quenching your thirst on that in the morning can be very satisfying. IMO, more so than eating the fruit. Would this be a proper time to add ymmv?

To me factory made OJ is always a big dissapoint.
