Loake Pimlico--Chukka's

Just got these Chukka's from herring shoes today. I really like them in dark brown. The only thing is that they are just a tad bit wider than the Loake Kempton, so I will need to wear thicker socks with them. They also are pretty cheap at $195.00 shipped. Like others on this board, I have that Chukka bug!

can you post real life pics of them?, regards

imo just style wise i think those are amongst the nicest posted on these forums, and available on pediwear/herring

Those look great. Am thinking of getting these also but in Suede. The last used for the Pimlico is the Capital which fwicg is slightly broader than say the 026 which would seem to suit my e/ee foot. Do you feel the Pimlicos run tts (8uk=9us) or should I size up 1/2?

I was thinking of these as well - Pediwear has them in burgundy as well for nearly the same price.

Just curious, what size US do your normally wear and what size Pimilico did you order?

While I am a full size down (US 8.5D -> UK 7.5F) on the 026 last with shoes, I have found I have to go down to a UK 7F for chukkas. I wonder if that formula will also work for the Capital last.

I am a size 11 in US and sized down to 10.5 in UK. They are very nice shoes.

Excuse me for being thick but when you say you "sized down to a 10.5 in UK" do you mean you ordered a UK10.5 which would equate to a US11.5? Also what's you feeling of the "roominess" of the Capital last? I'm trying to work out what size to order them in Suede for a "ee" foot.

I would be interested to see pics of people wearing them. I just sent a UK10.5 Dark Brown back to Pedi. They were a little tight, strange when the Kempton fits fine, but I am usually a G fit. Second reason - they made my feet look a bit clownish, the boot lookd very elongated, which was not what I was after.
I find I need a cap toe or some such to break up the shape and make to shoes look like they are not too long.

Another $.02 on Pimlico fit. I wear US 11B in AE and UK 10.5C in very old Church's. The 10.5F UK Pimlicos in suede are predictably too wide and high volume for me, but work with a thin insole and a tongue pad. The arch is right on for an 11 and there's spare toe length because it's a somewhat elongated last. I would say the 10.5 UK is very close to an 11D US with ample toe room.

For some reason, these shoes have gone up in price significantly since I picked them up last March. I bought mine from Pediwear for 124 pounds. They are now selling for 164 pounds.

Still a great shoe, by the way.

This is bugging me too. They were GBP150 untill a few weeks ago - I asked them if they would price match, they said no!

I want a pair for sure. Other recommended sources?

I think it's been an across the board rise. Pediwear, shoehealer, and herring shoes all have them at roughly the same price. When I looked a month ago, though, in London, they were retailing for about £140-150.

I've been looking for a pair of Pimlicos or Kemptons as well. Every thread on SF talks about how cheap they are, but I also haven't been able to find any for under $200. Definitely seems like prices went up across the board.

If another member knows of some sources, or wants to sell theirs, definitely let me know.

I tried ordering a pair in suede from Pediwear a couple of weeks ago. They were out of stock in my size (UK7), with a 6 week wait for delivery from the manufacturer. On the Loake website, the suede Pimlico are available for direct order only in limited sizes at the moment. I cancelled my order at the previous price of £130, and see they are now £145 at Pediwear. I imagine the price increase is in advance of a new run of manufacture of the boot at Loake.

I've seen them in real life, and in my opinion the suede Pimlico looks very good - closer to some of the other UK shoe makers suede boots than are the leather versions of Loake boots. Slightly sorry I cancelled the order at the old price, but I think still good value for the new price, and I will probably re-order when I see they are readily available.
