Opera web browser 10.5 final out

I resisted playing with the alpha and beta versions but always read that it was blazingly fast.

Just installed and it is indeed flying!

Edit: should add that it's Windows only at the moment. Versions for other operating systems to follow soon.

I'm going to give it a try after seeing this graph posted.

Ok just downloaded it, and I'm impressed. It's incredibly fast. Noticeably faster than Firefox. Never used it in the past, but Opera will be my default browser from now on. I definitely suggest downloading it.

Thanks for the heads up, Jumbie.

The Opera Unite function is pretty cool.

Using it now, it is blazing fast. But how the hell do I enable the bookmark toolbar?

Edit: Durr, they call it a Personal Bar.

I've used Opera off and on in the past.

Out of the box, I like it better than Firefox but once I config FF how I like it and install certain extensions I prefer it.

I read that FF is really working on their javascript handling for a future version although it's not gonna be as fast as Opera's. Competition's great though.

It seems fast, but like Jumbie, I have FF configured just the way I want it. The small increase in speed isn't worth the effort of switching browser.

Just upgraded from 10.10 after seeing this post. Wow. Very fast, very cool. At least in Windows. Unfortunately I'm still tied to Firefox at work since Opera (at least version 10.10) isn't compatible with the Federal District Courts' Electronic Filing System.

Speed isn't really an issue a work where I'm running XP.

What I'm really interested in how it will perform in Ubuntu. Firefox in Ubuntu sucks ass, slowest browser ever. Opera is better, but not good enough, and 10 didn't seem to be compatible with a lot of sites, like Facebook or Netflix.

I've always liked Opera, but don't like how many sites aren't compatible with it, like picasaweb, for example. I've been using Chrome for over a year and love it, but I need all the help I can get with speed as I'm usually on a shitty connection.

I'm sure when they talk about speed, they are talking about rendering speed and not boosting your slow net connection somehow. If it's your connection limiting ya, I say use whatever browser you like, bloated as it may be.

Actually Opera has a feature called Turbo that pre-renders the pages via their servers and speeds up the connection that way. It degrades image quality and stuff a bit though due to compression.

Wow, very interesting.

I don't really like firefox, but some of the extensions are nice. I used chrome as my main browser and have no desire to use anything else. It's fast as hell and bookmark sync is sweet. Hopefully the bookmark sync feature will show up in the linux builds sooner rather than later. Firefox feels unrefined by comparison but the extensions are a nice feature. No-script is pretty awesome for when you want to make sure you don't leak any information from your browser to websites.

Geek, If you need bookmark sync with Linux, the Firefox extension Xmarks works well (of course, the same cannot be said for Firefox itself in Linux, at least Ubuntu...). Like others, I am too attached to a few Firefox extensions to make the jump to another browser just for a speed gain, but I'm glad that the competition should drive FF developers to speed up their program.
