Shaun White blowing away the field in the half-pipe, then doing a little air guitar during the playing of the national anthem at the medal ceremony. 'Cause that's how Americans roll.

Sven also screwed up (presumably on his own) earlier in the race but did it for part of a turn the other way (he was in the outside when he should've been in the inside lane). The commentators said that's fine when it happened because he took a longer line.

The best part of the Shaun White run before the double mctwist was his coach saying something to the effect of "let's put this shit down" on live TV.

I mean, part of the reason his time was so fast was because he took an extra lap on the inside track, which is huge in speedskating. Nobody seems to be talking about that.

Kramer was apparently the dominant force in that event for like the past 3 years. He was an overwhelming, overwhelming favorite. he might not have gotten the record, but I gather nobody had beaten him in this event in years. I think he had the gold pretty much in the bag.

Favourite part was whenever the crowd would spontaneously burst into 'O Canada' during an event.

Considering I've met more then a few people who can't even remember the words, it was pretty cool.

pretty much any cross country/biathlon race that is won or lost by tenths of a second.

But the best part wasn't watching the games, it was just being in the city and wandering the streets that were almost packed 24/7

A lot of cities in south america are like that all year. They have central squares that are always packed with people every night. The streets are always full of music. And it's always a mix of people, not just young people or old people. I don't know why, but it's nice to see and be a part of. Maybe I'm romanticizing but they definitely seem to get more enjoyment out of life, despite having a lot less stuff. Of course, they all envy us in return.

I was at a bar in Vancouver for the game and with three minutes to go everyone just started going crazy. When the U.S. scored there was complete silence except for me shouting louder than I ever have before. It immediately got quite hostile. And then it was worse once the Canucks won.
