I know I'm a little late to the picnic.. but.. Alrighty then. I just read this entire thread because the first two pages were intriguing.. the next 7 were a trainwreck. LV is gaudy, gauche crap. Their choice of PW as a spokesperson/model seems apt for his, typical, over-the-top rock/rap style. I'm black, I like some of PW's music, but to say that his style of dress is in any way indicative of average black America is just silly, henceforth, to assume that anyone negatively commenting on his dress is racist, is a moron. He wears an augmented-flash-prep style, which fits for the image he portrays. This kind of dress would definitely not be well-received on this board, and can you imagine the backlash on AskAndy?
Whereas, if you go to the GQ board, or some part of superfuture, or wherever, many of the tastes exemplified by members of SF / AAAC would be stodgy, boring, ugly, and old. I find myself somewhere in the middle. The irony is that many people will spend a great deal of money to look good, but you won't see one label (myself included, short a couple Lacoste polos.. shoot me). The ones with class won't put the cost out there. People give me shit because I bought Nudies and I honestly answered when they asked how much they cost, because they always see me decently turned out. Edit: After re-reading that, it doesn't come off as I intended. My point is, people will know that you're well-dressed, if you are indeed well-dressed. How much you paid for it is secondary, but after awhile, will probably be deduced. Unless, that is, you're a bastard and live in NYC or somewhere and can get Lattanzi or EG for Asprey for 300 bucks or some ridiculous price. Damn you! The nouveau-riche that LV seems to be marketing to want you to know how much they paid for their crap. It depresses me terribly when I see black women with LV bags - hell, my CPA (which, as far as I understood, was typically a relatively 'conservative' occupation) first cousin has one and I was like... I can't believe you paid a grand for that. Wow. Moving right along... NOW, to the reason I'm really posting - professional wrestling > you. 75% of wrestling fans are morons. I have no problem admitting that. Those that chant for John Cena or.. I don't even know.. but then you have those that appreciate the athleticism and the willingness for wrestlers to go out there and kill themselves to entertain you + (if applicable) a storyline to entertain you. That's what it is. It's entertainment. I may not like punk or metal, but I won't insult someone for listening to it. And of course, as a huge wrestling fan, this is something that has always gotten my goat. Back to the regularly scheduled program. That is all. Oh and Violinist, just out of curiosity, how much do you think CaliStyle costs?
