Oxxford price points?

Can someone explain why resale on Oxxford is so ridiculously low compared to other similar manufacturers with the same price points (Kiton, Isaia, Brioni, Purple Label, Chester Barrie). The clothing is beautiful, superbly made, and the materials are wonderful. Would love to get your thoughts.

I don't know why Oxxford is lightly regarded, but I'm thrilled I was able to thrift a lightly used (and I mean lightly used) Oxxford 2B peak lapel suit for $99 on ebay. Damn thing fits me pretty spot on - no roll in the back of the collar, jacket sleeves pretty much correct, trousers generally right but maybe an inch loose, except maybe a few inches could be taken out of the torso. Just had it dried clean, now have to decide whether I want to alter it or just go with it.

I mentioned Oxxford to my friend who doesn't really follow men's brands, and he didn't know of it. He had heard of Paul Stuart, though.

Isn't Oxxford generally a bit dowdy?

Older customers generally have less patience for bargain-hunting and lower tolerence for used goods. There is higher demand for more contemporary clothing on the resale maket (driven by younger consumers who otherwise wouldn't be able to afford it) and thus higer prices.

It's a combination of various points raised so far on this thread.

1) Resale value of a brand is a function of demand for secondhand goods of that particular brand.

2) Demand for secondhand Oxxford is fairly low because it is not a mass-marketed brand, and has fairly low penetration, awareness, etc. Most people (outside of SF or AAAC or older folks) just haven't heard of it.

3) Additionally, demand for secondhand Oxxford is low because most Oxxford target customers are wealthy and older. They don't necessarily go for secondhand at all. Which means that the only people actively looking to buy secondhand Oxxford are folks like us. And let's face it: folks like us are a VERY small minority of the total secondhand clothing market.

Would you say that the same applies to Belvest as well?
