Vacation advice need for California - Page 2

I'll be close to downtown LA for about 10 days, but I'll be reliant on public transport, am I screwed..? It's kind of a business trip but I would like to do some sightseeing also, I might fly for the day to San Francisco.

A day pass on Metro costs $5.00. If you must be in Downtown LA on foot... STAY AWAY FROM SKID ROW! Once you go below Main St. you will start encountering homeless and junkies that won't hesitate to beat and rob you. Broadway and Spring have several Bus stops that will take you pretty much anywhere.

You can get to Santa Monica (beach city) via bus from downtown. You can get to Hollywood very easily via subway from downtown. You can get anywhere, it's just more time consuming.
