Horseback Riding: Didn't know I'd like it so much!

I got dragged to go horseback riding this weekend and thought it'd be boring (not to mention expensive). It was actually one of the best experiences of my life! AMAZING views of Los Angeles and being surrounded in a lush green environment was so refreshing.

Does anyone here go horseback riding regularly? Anyone in LA? We went to the Wagon Wheel Ranch in Palos Verdes, and I'd like to explore Malibu or maybe even Santa Barbara on horse. Or, maybe even in the Del Mar/Rancho Santa Fe area in SD?

Thoughts welcome!

I used to when I was a kid but haven't in a long time. I'd like to own horses when I retire. They're beautiful animals.

I'm glad that you enjoyed it. It's a wonderful experience.

I did Hunters up until about 2 years ago- love the horses, the riding, and the people I met. I have a few connections on my school's polo team, so I may well get started again.

Did you know how to ride before, or did you learn on this ride? This sounds like something I would want to try. (I'm in LA as well)

This was my first time ever being on a horse (I'm 22 yrs old). I would HIGHLY recommend that place I went to: http://pvhorses.com/

The views were truly amazing and I loved the scenery. Great staff too. I live in the south bay, so it was close by. As stated, I'd like to try some other places in LA, specifically Malibu, but this place will probably end up being my go to place once I've explored the scene a bit. Just be sure to call ahead to know what times the rides are available.

Riding has been on my list for a while and you may have inspired me to finally get to it. When (if???) the weather in the northeast gets a bit better of course. Lots of stables near our house in W. Mass., some of our neighbors have horses and the countryside is really beautiful.

I like how you turned this into a conversation on girls, in what, 5 posts? Focus, man, focus!

I wanted to give horseback riding a try, but when I looked into it I saw that it wasn't really like bike riding- part of the issue, and the pleasure, seems to be building up a relationship with a horse.

Still, it seems like a great hobby.

I took up horseback riding a year or soago. It's definitely a skill that requires the use of the entire body. My abductors are sore for a couple of days afterwards.

I've actually never been on a horse. My sister owns one and has been involved with equestrian activities for quite a while.
