Don't buy a guitar based on looks alone. Between a starcaster and jazzmaster. If you have a 61 jazz why need anything else? But yeah still ric.

+1 for Guild Starfire... better wood, manufacturing...nice solid neck. I have one myself for my slim hollowbody needs and love it! Much better than a 335...

I'm already there - Scotland doesn't have a single vintage guitar shop that I'm aware of. I miss New York (which is where my Jazzmaster is, as well, sadly).

I haven't played a guitar in a while, but here's two toys I got myself for December! Have a danelectro fabtone pedal knocking around somewhere too!

Got the stack version a cople months ago. It is breaking in nicely.

That looks like a fun set up for rock 'n Roll. If this was 1957 that rig would be a tweed Fender Champ next to Gibson Les Paul Jr.

Ok, one last stupid question.

Does anyone have tuner recommendations? My 60's Casino can barely stay in tune from song to song, and takes forever to tune up. It is becoming a real problem. I'm looking to switch out the tuners and probably have a new nut made as well. Any tuner recs? And this is a Casino with a repaired headstock crack so I'm not afraid of changing things like tuners since it is definitely a player and not an investment guitar.

Replacing/upgrading your tuning pegs should make a huge difference. I am partial to Schaller tuning pegs (see here). Grovers are also good (and a bit cheaper).

Nice!! I was seriously debating whether to get this instead but I didn't want to take up even MORE space... and all I really really needed was a combo.

The Les Paul Jr. was on my wish list for most of high school and college. Saw this PRS and the reviews on it and didn't have to think anymore!!


Also, that AC4TV is damned loud for Hong Kong flats even at 1/4 watt!!!

It is loud, don't get confused with the difference between wattage and decibals. Not perfectly correlated. FWIW, the 1/4 watt setting I feel sucks a lot of tone, especially high end. I like using the 1 watt setting and diming it then using pickup selections/ volume/ tone controls to clean and dirty and lead and such.

If you haven't already, check and see what impedence the volume pot on your guitar is. Most maker put 300k's in stock. If that is what you have I would switch it out for a 500k CTS pot. It gives you more high end and it won't muddy up as much when you roll off the volume. Makes using your volume control much more useful for clean/distorted sounds.

did a bit of research on the net and it seems that what the PRS SE One Korina's have a:

"full sized Alpha 500k audio pot w/ a ceramic capacitor of a 180 pf "brightness cap".
