That's true, we have different preferences here and there but we are always right with the basics and in our own styles.

It would seem your opinions on tubes differ. This is like watching mom and dad fight. :(

Booth's point was, if i can remember correctly, that there's a nicely regarded lower-output EL84. my point was simply that a 5 watt volume-only head is exactly that, so get a high quality tube and push it instead of focusing on cutting volume.

What does the collective think of chorus?

Edit: I might have been drinking when I asked this but it's still a good question.

You all should check out Reaper. You can d/l the full program for free and a personal license is just $60. I was playing with, amongst other things, a chorus effect. Interesting how it fills out the sound when you add voices.

Ordering my tubes right now.

I have an MXR analog chorus and analog delay on the way as well as the premium tubes.

Every song needs a chorus..

I can't remember where I read it, but if you set the rate high enough you can almost use it as an overdrive. Probably good for making verses sound interesting, but I have not found much use for one.

Chorus has its uses, but in general I find them to sound a bit too "processed" and unnatural. Robert Smith of The Cure had it right, he slightly detuned his guitar, laid track, slightly upturned, overdubbed, normal tuning, overdubbed and so on.
