I have plenty of Gretsch experience. The reissues are well made, nice playing and good sounding guitars...especially with TV Jones pickups. Just make sure you get a real one, not the Electromatic series.

Of course, you can still find true Gretsches, i.e. vintage ones, for a decent price...if you look and shop. There really is no comparison when you find a good one. If I could have one guitar back (aside from the '63 Strat I sold in 1992), it would be my '64 Sparkle Jet. Hands down, the greatest rhythm guitar I ever owned, and quite capable for lead work as well. It was simply an amazing instrument.

What does it do? Sustain? Also what do those long ones do on the bottom? Is it hard to balance while pressing ones in the middle or back? Here's me playing into the Crate solid state pictured above. Tune is called Stella by marital aid.

Sadly, no. In fact, I haven't had the chance to play any Cornish pedal.

It's more than sustain. You can read about it here. Be sure to check out his pro rigs and article on buffered vs. true bypass as well.

Those are bypass switch banks similar to what you find from Loooper. If you have multiple pedals and want to be able to turn on groups at a time or just have easy access in the front of the board, they're an absolute necessity.

Im in the market for my first guitar and have two questions: 1) I'm trying to decide whether I should get an acoustic or an electric. I live in an apartment, sometimes with a roommate, so Im thinking I should go with an electric, since an acoustic would just be loud and obnoxious and the opportunities I would have to play would be limited. 2) A Fender Strat is the obvious choice for an electric (as far as I know). Ive done some preliminary research, and for my purposes I think a Made-in-Mexico Standard, or possibly a lower-end American-made version, would offer the best value. Were/are strats in the this price range offered in this color combo (cream/ivory body, white pick guard, dark neck, lighter headstock? http://www.styleforum.net/attachment...1&d=1291499435

Do you prefer the sound of an electric over an acoustic? If so, go for an electric. I'm going to assume this for the rest of the post. A Made-in-Mexico (MIM) Standard Strat or Tele would be my very first choice. In fact, I own some quite nice gear and among that are both of those. They play well with a good setup, sound nice, and are highly customizable. Musician's Friend offers a good variety of colors for either of these models. People have their complaints with MF, but I think they're fine for an entry-level axe. For an amp, I suggest something with modeling capabilities. The Vox Valvetronix series is quite nice"”check out their 15-watt offerings. You'll want something you can use with headphones. What kind of music do you want to play? What inspires you?

Well, I guess I would prefer both, depending on what I would be playing. For now, though, I just want to go with one or the other depending on which would suit my situation best, which is probably the electric.

My guitar-related musical tastes are all over the place. From Clapton to Oasis to Underoath to Bon Iver. For the purpose of guitar selection, Id say I'm more into electric-based music, but I like plenty of acoustic stuff as well. And that's not to say that electric stuff cant be played on or interpreted by an acoustic, and vise versa.

Thanks for the MF recommendation, Ill check them out.

Yes, there are lights on the inside. This board was built by Rooster at Trailer Trash. Check out his website. He is a great guy to work with, and his craftsmanship is unbeatable.
