Fifteen watts is too much for me.

Pio, why don't you just get an integrated amp? Why the head/cabinet setup?

I just like the aesthetic of the half stack.

Yes, and as you've told me and I experienced for myself, tubes deliver more oomph than one might imagine. That 15 watt BJ was infinitely louder than my Vox VT20+. Heck, the little 5w Kustom is as loud or louder. Somehow I don't think Foo's amp is going to be quieter than my current 5w head.

what i mean is, 12 watts of valve power will vary from amp to amp. one amp might push it hard and loud, another amp might push it all to the low end.

also, Foof's amp has a decent attenuator built in

My Falcon is very suitable for our tiny apartment. I cannot push it anywhere near its limit, but I don't need to for it to sound good.

Well I'll toss it into the mix. Part of my problem is demo'ing this equipment too. After the BJ debacle not a chance in hell I'm not thoroughly demo'ing something particularly if it's a Fargen or TK.

BH debacle?

Just do some reading and YouTubing. Buy from a good authorized dealer, and return if you don't like it.

No, I mean, what was the "debacle?"

Okay, I just spent three minutes back reading on this.

Pio, do you not agree that different tube amps of the same wattage will differ in perceived volume?

One 15 watt amp being too loud does not mean others will be. Anyways, it sounds like your BJ could have been perfectly suitable if you didn't rely solely on the amp for distorted tones. Add pedals. That's part of the fun.

the Blues Jr. is an awesome amp, I've owned a few in the past.

Few amps can do a sparkly and glassy clean like Fender can.

You are sort of a Fender slut, though.
