I'm just wondering if they've made advances that make that $350 price tag worth it. Also, it would seem some folks were working under a misimpression of where the tube is in the circuit.

I'll sell you my Vox AC4TVH and cab for $250. All tube. It will force me to get the Fargen. devil.gif

I've got myself set on that combo (Vt80+ and the EX Epiphone) which, delivered and with hard shell case, = $950. Not sure if I'll pull the trigger this year or not but I've got my purchase lined up.

that beats the shit out of what most people start out with. Ive played quite a few Vox amps. both the all tube and the solid state. You wont notice a difference...it would be a waste to start out with a really nice boutique hand wired tube amp. Get your feet wet with this...it will suit you just fine for a LONG time. quite frankly, the only reason youd really need to upgrade is if you start playing live or recording.

Does it though? Does it?

I'd even suggest the same Vox amp but with 30-50 watts. IMO plenty of power.

The 80 would even be more than enough in a band setting.

i does. it vurry much does. But i couldnt be happy with the tone id get from a solid state after playing all tubes for so long. Ignorance is bliss.

A 50 watt amp is only 3 decibels quieter than a 100 watt amp, 15 watt amp is only about 8 decibels quieter. Watts really confuse people, but the only thing that they really are going to affect is headroom (ie. when the amp starts to naturally distort).

10 watts FTW!!!

also, i know people talk a lot of shit about them, but i had a fender hot rod deville 410 that i REALLY loved. I wish it were half the wattage it was though...something like 50-60 watts. Id have no problem getting another one...and if they ever made a decent one without a PCB id instakop.
