A Strat or Tele through a Bassman = guitar perfection.

having cracked open both my Bassman and Marshall JTM45, I can attest to the eerie similarities between the two.

I know these are completely different amps, but has anyone played either the Vox AC15 Handwired or the Fender Bassman reissue? They are in the same price range and I'm curious if anyone has any opinions. Again, reliability is sort of important, this will be a gigging amp as well.

Edit: or a silverface twin reverb

There's a big difference in volume between those choices... what style are you going for? Clean vs dirty? Lots of effects vs dry?

This will be mostly used for rhythm guitar playing for indie-ish rock, but I'd like it to be a bit versatile, which the AC15 may not be. So I guess that means both clean and dirty, and I'd like it to take pedals well.

Also this will be used with a semi-hollow with humbuckers, so if that changes an opinion, I'd be interested.

And does anyone know the going rate for a 70s silverface Twin?

Jealous. I'm a ****** guitar player but I love an SG.

Recently got my Takamine acoustic fixed so I'm back off the wagon, guitarwise. Might even get the amp from my folks' house and shop for an electric. Any recs for an electric that'll give a nice mid-90s melodic hardcore crunch for around $500? Poly I'm looking at you?

look no further. gibson sonex. make sure you get one with a coil tap though, tone possibilities are endless with it. played it last night for some pre-production demos we're working on, sounds really dirty but can clean up real nice. Obviously this depends on the amp you're playing out of as well. I'll give you some samples if you want. But it's basically a poor man's les paul (but completely unique in it's own right). This replaced my sg for a hot minute, but I'm so accustomed to playing the SG that it's tough to permanantly change (also weighs a lot). But yeah, they go for under $500, saw one go for 300 not too long ago, they're not too well known about, but look what happened to the marauder, which skyrocketed in price.....def don't look to this as an investment guitar, but if you want a SOLID workhorse, this is your guitar.

Thanks dude, I'll be on the lookout. Be nice to find one locally so I could give it a shot first.

There is a reason that a 4 x 10 bassman is one of the Holy Grails of guitar amps. They just sound so punchy and blistering. Perfect for blues and rock. I've got a Victoria boutique copy from 15 years ago. All the parts are original factory specs and it just sounds better and better.

But, as many major rock stars will tell you a Les Paul jr through a Fender tweed champ is the sound of rock'n roll.

Who gave this thread 1 star?

On another note, I tried out my new Zendrive pedal and it is AWESOME. I'm not sure how it compares to a Keeley modded TS808, but I definitely like it more than my 808 reissue.

It's because I started it. I have a few fans that go around and 1 star my threads, no matter what the topic is. It lets me know I'm loved.

^ Tell a noob what all those peddles do. The tuner is the only apparent thing to me.

the wah pedal goes wah wah wah. Can be used to create the actual wah sound, but I always used mine to get slightly more cut during times when the guitar could use a little oomph (like a solo).

one on the bottom is a d ela y. The other is an echo echo ho o o

the little white thing might be a channel changer for an amp. Not sure about the Tim's, maybe gain?
