Ah thanks! Those are one of my classic bread-and-butter makes that will hopefully appeal to most. The one I posted here would be too, but those color combo's were created just for me, as you may know i like things a bit two-toned. The shoe will mostly only come in black calf, dark brown calf and maybe burgundy.

There's actually an ancient SF thread on Stefano Bi shoes. It and another thread on AAAC contain the most information I can find.

As far as the "pin pointing" decoration on the sole of the shoes, may I remind you guys that Barker Black does this on almost all of their shoes with the image of the memento mori, but it is at the waist and therefore the sole doesn't bend at that point.

DWF, I've emailed them before to bitch to them about their crappy website (two years ago) and they responded quickly, so maybe you can inquire with them on how to procure some of these brass pins?

I may indeed try that. Thanks for the suggestion.

The only downside in my experience is its direct leak path from the ground to insole.  Goodyear, Blake Rapid or Hand welting don't have that kind of problem.

Other than that, no.  And it has its positives such as lightweight and sturdiness.

About six months ago I made a pair of shoes for my wife that were "channel-stitched." The technique is similar to Blake except it is done by hand. An angled channel is cut in the outsole and the stitch goes from there through the insole. When the channel is closed, there is no direct "leak path." I put a soleguard on them because once the sole is worn through there is no easy path to a resole. I suspect that's the real drawback of Blake.

Wink, wink, nudge, nudge. Know what I mean?

Actually, she designed them for herself and did all the upper work. I say I made them...perhaps mistakenly...because I did all the lasting and bottom work.
