My experience of them has been largely limited to a visit I paid Leather Soul in Hawaii and saw a bunch of them which I handled (but did not try on). Neither the leather nor the design appealed to me; neither seemed to suggest that the price was worth it. I even saw the famed shell cordovan EG (Sandringham in Cognac); just did not see how they were better than the C&J Marlow.
Lobbs I get and own. EG - maybe the details are too subtle for me at this point in my evolution, and I know I don't know a lot.. Although I doubt I will ever get a feel of them, unless again like NAMOR I get my hands on a Shannon.

This is very very interesting. rotflmao.gif

This^^^^^^

There is a reason for the price and it's justified, even if we are spoiled 75% off freaks.

NORE curious what portion of your C&J Darlton Cognac Shell vs EG Sandringham Cognac Shell is subjective/personal (I like how their lasts look, I like how their styling looks, I prefer how their lasts happen to fit me) vs objective (super craftsmanship, wear, longevity)

Never owned those. I've owned:

C&J for RL Bentons/Belgrave
C&J Finsbury
C&J Connaught
C&J for RL Redway

EG Chelsea
EG for RLPL MacKay
EG for PRL Falkirk (OG pair, legendary on these fora)
EG Malvern
EG Inverness
EG Midford
EG for RLPL something

And a plethora of other shoes and more pairs of the above brands I can't think of ATM.
