Looks like another document from Louis XV. On the left-hand panel it has what appears to be the same signature and seal on it as the Alessandro III shoe, which I know was etched with a letter from Louis XV to Madame de Pomapdour.

They're nice but I can't help thinking that they're missing the toe stitching. Looks unfinished.

I know what you mean gdl. I spent about 45 minutes in EG today - couldn't decide between these or the Dover (606). The 888 was calling. I may order the Dover on the 888 anyway, though they are quoting 16 weeks!
Is it just me, or have shoe prices increased considerably in the last 12 months. C&J, Foster etc all seem much higher than my last london visit.

Well I also have a pair of EG Dover (on 888) - which I actually wore today btw - and they both have their place. The Vass are awesome but more casual than the Dover (especially with the double sole). Dovers' apron and stitching is a bit more subtle. I guess some could say that a split toe shouldn't be too subtle - that's a valid argument.

i agree. iirc, your vass have a goyser welt, too.

the sandhurst above also sports a double sole. the leather on yours look more delicate. i'm not a fan of the apron stitching pattern of the eg's. more subtle? imo, this depends on the pov.

the dover has been very popular on sf. also the ecton and there have been last comparisons and what not. eg more or less "disappeared" from sf, thinking a few years back.

honestly, the best norweger are "not" available from rtw. vass is pretty close to a authentic last shape.

but like in fashion also the last shapes follow certain trends. subtle, but they do. mr. berta has settled on four basic last shapes for now. depending on your measurments, little adjustements are realized. etc., etc.
