My 1940s spades arrived. Now enjoying a well earned drink of Cadillac conditioner.

Good fit and very nice too.

No sizing or maker's mark anywhere so maybe they were MTM/bespoke made?

Outstanding spades, they really look fantastic!

Herring William II (made by Alfred Sargent)

Upon opening the box I noticed a dark spot on the vamp of the right shoe (left ion the picture). Acceptable or not?

Acceptable, of course. If you send back shoes for things like that it can't be many pairs you can keep.

Beautiful shoes. After you wear them, you will start to see more dark spots.  Yeah, they are shoes.  Wear them in good health.

Did a lot of damage in the past 30 days:

Alden 975 LWB in color 8 size 10.5 3E (too big, exchanging for 2E width in about 6 months once it gets made)

Vass Budepester derby, P2 last size 43.5 H red-brown suede (PERFECT fit):

Carmina Chelsea boot in dark brown museum calf, size 10 EEE (good fit):

John Lobb Saunton, brown misty calf, 7000 last size 10 EE (perfect fit):

Two more inbound from Carmina in a few weeks, a tobacco suede chukka and navy shell LWB, and then two more wingtip preorders from Alden in suede and shell near the end of spring/summer. Then I'll have to be done with footwear, and seek some kind of support group...
