Shoe Damage Report & Shoe P0rn Central - Part II - Page 1302

Very interesting article, I've been considering dropping my career path in banking/accounting to get into working in some kind of workshop, or going to school for it.

Yup, we're both in agreement. If my instep was higher I could handle those... I think Vass makes an excellent wholecut except I have the instep issue. I need revisions.

Probably not in play...but the fact that the shoe is a wholecut has nothing to do with it. You could wear a bespoke or MTO wholecut just fine. A last has to be made to fit / resemble / model your foot, that's all.

Agree. It's definitely a last = foot resemblance factor.

The pictured black wholecut shape is really nice although I've never really been a fan of such a tight waist (not sure if this is the right term) on the heel. G&G's waist is probably the narrowest I'd go. I know some Japanese makers cut them closer though.

@cleav Just finally checked out your tumbr! Excellent brown & blue combinations!

Well, there's another factor as well...just because the profile of the last is high in the instep doesn't signify as to what the instep girth is. And it's the girth that counts as the leather will close up around your foot. Conceivably you could have a last that looked like it had a high instep but was much smaller in girth than a last with a lower instep. And it's the girth that counts.

Those shoes are extremely intimidating to me. I feel like if I tried to put them on, they'd break in half. :embar:

I hope it's not painful, I'm sensitive, and they look so delicate!

I don't know if I want to kill them with fire, or wear them every fucking day.
