How does one resole such a beast; back to Maftei? Or at this level do you just not care?

It can be resoled although it is best to send it back to the maker.

A buyer should be aware, as well that pegging an outsole will make repeated resoling problematic. The upper is turned over the edge of the insole...as with a cement job...and the pegs driven through that margin. Each peg is driven into a hole made by a pegging awl--a hole that never heals or goes away. Repeated pegging simply multiplies the holes / damage done to both the upper and the insole.

At a certain level this is fully understood....

Thank you DW!
Is there a welt in this construction and if so, could they later be soled using a conventional stitched sole?

For shoes pegged only at waists, is it customary to just do a half sole?

I wonder if Carmina could do a Navy Shell Captoe kinda like the EG chelsea?

Maybe let's talk with Young...

Carmina's version:

Prefer either of the St C's versions:

Hard to tell from the photo. There is no need for one but I do see some "pricking" so there's either a bon-welt or maybe a midsole.

Customary? "Customary" is, almost by definition, individualized.

It is, however, probably good practice to only do a half sole.

But for instance, in the case of western boots...which are pegged through the waist...most 'hands" will insist on a full sole simply because a half sole can dangerous in the stirrup.
