These people do great bespoke work. You should give them a try (if you have a spare $27,000)!

Cross post from the Riccardo Bestetti-thread: Received my pair from Riccardo Bestetti this week, a pair of Maverick in antique tan, Novecento semi-bespoke line. Like expected truly amazing shoes, and Riccardo has been a pleasure to deal with. On my blog ( http://www.shoegazing.se ) there's a complete buying guide to Bestettis RTW, MTO and semi-bespoke offerings, pictures of lasts and models, prices, how to order and so on. Also a short review of the shoes. Written in Swedish, but you can use the translation tool on the upper right of the page to make it understandable.

Here are a bunch of pics of the shoes:

Most gorgeous adelaides I've ever seen. Perfect toe and perfect waist.

Absolutely stunning, J.I.  Literally some of the most beautiful shoes I have ever seen.  Congratulations, and thank you for those beautiful and inspiring pics.

As for the elephants, there are perfectly legal and well-managed means of producing elephant hide commercially, and although I find them wonderful beasts and care about humane hunting etc., I don't object in principle.  Only that those shoes are a bit ugly.

The human thing, though....makes me shudder.

Is there a reason why the fold of the leather at the heel of JI's shoes is visible?

If you mean that you see the lining on some pics from above, it's just that the lining goes pretty high up. He makes the stitching close to the edge of the upper, almost integrated with the pinking, which means he has to have the lining pretty high up towards the opening as well. Here's a close up to show what I mean (click to see it larger):

Interesting article on US footwear manufacture in TN by an 'Australian' company that was previously manufacturing in China.

Crosspost from the AS-thread: A pair of Alfred & Sargent Hunt in Mahogany bought from Foster & Son and their clearance. 250 pounds for these were a bargain. Really nice shoes, and the Foster & Son people were a pleasure to deal with. Here's some pics of the shoes, both in outdoor and indoor light:

There are what maybe a 1000 elephants left in the universe and over 10 billion humans. Iam all for human leather, if it will spare the life of the elephants. Unlike elephants, these humans actually had a say in what was done to their skin.

That human leather website has been talked about several times before here on SF, and I think the consensus previously reached was that it was a hoax website.
