I rather prefer the toecap a bit deeper.  But it looks like this fellow's feet are very different sizes.  The smaller toecap might de-emphasise that I suppose.

I was looking at some Tom Ford models at Neimans, the made in Italy models looked very similar to Ferragamos. Who makes Tom Ford's made in Italy shoes?

Not sure but the waist work is much nicer than any Ferragamos I've seen, some posts say Max Verre is the maker

I have no idea, but the internals look nothing like the ferragamos i have.

Beautiful shoes, Foster & Sons.

I want to ask a question that was raised by member MoneyWellSpent in the Allen Edmonds thread. This is not to denigrate any work or members on here, but I always hear about how ugly Allen Edmonds' short caps are, yet, as is the case with Foster's, there is widespread approval...even praise for the small cap. I would like to know if there are any members on here who like the small cap on the Foster shoe but loathe the small cap on the Allen Edmonds shoe. If so, can you please explain why you feel this way? Thanks in advance, and again, Beautiful shoes Foster & Sons.

You blew my cover!

:hide:

Just kidding.  The reason I only brought it up in the AE thread is because the short caps don't bother me at all.  I'd gladly wear those Foster's, and the caps on AE's look fine to me generally speaking (sometimes the pairs with a low length to high width ratio can look quite blobby).

The most disappointing thing about AE for me are the soles. They need to be much tighter to the shoe, and a little bit of work in the waist would be nice.

...let's not forget how quickly AE's non-Rendenbach leather soles wear out. This is one big red minus in my books.

Thanks for your comments guys, but these are collateral issues to the general question: why the hatred for AE's short caps? Why the hate for AE generally? AE is not the Coach purse of the mens footwear industry.

Out of curiosity, how much quicker have you experienced this?  I know that may be an unfair question, but do you have any estimation, when compared to a Redenbach or full oak tanned sole like something found on and Edward Green or G&G?
