Is it because of the quality you think or the finishing? I found the misty to be less cloudy than museum but with more depth and shine to my untrained eye

You are right, I saw black museum only on Chapels not on any other shoe in store. Did you have the choice of ordering them in Black Misty as well? If yes would you have gone for Misty instead of Museum

As I mentioned I have not seen black Misty in person but I have seen the brown misty and I think I prefer the dark brown museum over the misty - the museum at least to me is more subtle whereas, again at least to me, the misty looks a little shiny/plastic but maybe that was because they were new shoes in shop light. Dark brown museum (and dusty) split-toe monks...

Misty is less mottled than museum. I find that if I'm not looking closely, black misty looks just like normal black calf

As HRoi said, Misty is less mottled and looks like normal calf. I prefer the mottled look that Museum. I just think Museum looks better. I have a pair of Museum Chestnut and Misty Chestnut and the Museum looks way better to me.

This pair of dark brown museum Seymour is one of my more mottled brown museum shoes and one of my favorites...

Dark brown museum Matta II - nice mottling in person especially with no distractions...

They need conditioner or even stripping/cleaning and application of Collonil Diamant IMO.
