How long did it take for the whole process, start to finish?

Did you have any concerns/challenges in getting the coloring consistent between both shoes?

Did you put a finish coat of any sort on the shoes when you were done?

thank you for your kind words glenjay!happy.gif

Because the shoes were brand new the time needed was a lot les than a used pair(no need of cleaning wax-polish-dirt from the surface)! the dyeing took about 30 min +10min for conditioning+20min shinning

The only thing you have to do is to count the layers  when you want a solid color and there would be no problem! when you go for a patina you just  add more color at specific points, for me its more artistic at this point! the only tricky part was to keep  the brogueing holes undyed

after the dyeing the leather surface was really dry cause of the alcohol in the dye and i have to condition the shoes( 1909 leather cream and after a coat of renovateur) after that i used a neutral cream and wax to polish and  mirror shine toes

Which photo represent the final color best?

thank you very much!! except the last pic (taken with camera flash) the color is depending on the lighting!! i thing the ones on the desk and the closed one on the lacing is more accurate (sun light)! the one on the box is with room light!

thank you very much! i used Saphir  teinture francaise (dark brown color) and applied it with the included applicator and with a paint brush at some spots!

good eye!! ;) i am drawing and painting as a hobby! as you can see in the photo there are 2 pieces of leather!!  experimenting with inks to see how they sit and absorbed by the leather and i am planning to use them to create a patina on shoes!maybe i ll give it a try on the soles!!

(x-post from the JL and EG threads, with some new comparison pics)

Gents. Posting a bunch of photos of a pair of EG Westministers that I bought from MOL a couple of weeks back during the EG London sale, and a pair of JL Williams that I got from another forum member about a week ago. I have also taken some comparison photos of the two models, that I personally think shows how the they, however very similar in design, differ quite a lot. I have gone over both shoes with reno, cream and polish, and on the EG:s I've done some extra toe antiquing.

Enjoy!

^Beautiful. People say the Williams is the iconic double monk, but I prefer the Westminster (though I prefer the JLP chapel to rule all the double monks smile.gif )
