Shoe Damage Report & Shoe P0rn Central - Part II - Page 1127

Brother, post those with some fits. Please. I'm interested in how to wear green shoes.

They look lovely and you can't tell the difference from NIB to the ones after the wear. Good job.

Yeah, I totally agree. All Macs stuff is terrible. It's atrocious. Let's show him what REAL footwear looks like. sarcasm.gif

You go first. I don't really have any footwear or photos better than Mac's so it'll take a little bit of time.

thank you for your kind words Mrjester!!

crosspost from Rock Your Socks thread

the pic was just out of the box without any polish shine on them!!

i think the easy and safe way to go with green shoes  is with gray -brown(if i remember correctly you have a great brown -forest green pant)-or dark blue pants with a green matching pocket square!! at least is what i do!! now in summer its quite good with a contrasting red striped shirt(at least in warm Greece where i leave)

Chingis, Uncle Mac clearly has a "special relationship" with Alden.  And he does indeed carpet bomb not just this but at least four other threads, with pictures of his extraordinary range of Alden cordovan wear, on a daily basis.  As neither he nor Alden are affiliate vendors of the Forum, how he gets away with this shameless promotion is both a mystery and a matter of admiration for me.  We all get by the best we can!

One reason why this goes relatively unchallenged (I've also mentioned it before, although in less strident terms), is that he is absolutely never impolite, uniformly pleasant and positive about the contributions of others - regardless of brand/expense , responsive and constructive when questioned about something relevant, and of course a long standing fixture of Styleforum furniture.

I don't like all his shoes either, and if they were all I saw on here it would be a terribly boring place.  But there's nothing at all to dislike about the self-styled "Uncle" Mac, at least not that I've seen.  As for "circle-J", yeah surprisingly this forum does have a lot of cliques, pretentiousness, shallow pomposity, and a disproportionate ratio of inadequates, try-hards, bullshitters, fantasists and needle-dicked trolls.  But given the subject matter, what would you expect?  Try the "What Are You Wearing Right Now" thread for a real cultural revelation.  I dare you.

Yet Mac is not any of those things, as far as I can see, and this particular thread is really quite nice.  Shoe people are the best.  Actually, on this forum, watch people are the best, but shoe people are the best of the clothes people.  So enjoy it; most of us are pretty  friendly really.  Oh, and if you don't have any argyll over-the-calf socks, then get some.  It will change your life. :)

In the mean time, I don't have any new shoes, so here are some old ones that I just like very much.  They are not Alden, not shell, and on a most elegant last in my humble opinion.  Have a great day.

Well said, being on a forum still requires manners and being pleasant, no different to how you interact with a person face to face. Uncle Mac has been around for a long time and if he likes his Aldens, and has HEAPS of alden photos to contribute to this forum, so be it.

I guess it's just the tone Chingis wrote those posts ticked some of us off, but I can see where he is coming from.

Beautiful Spectators, Mimo, I wish I can find an occasion to wear of a pair in Sydney, it would be part of my collection straight away.

Here is an other pair !! Made by a shoemaker friend of mine!(the design is from the little familly factory where he works and made on a shoe tree-last(mesured from my foot) i sent him)

hope you like them as mutch as i do!!

the first 2 pics are when shoes were brand new(second pic after a quick shine with renovateur)

the last 3 photos are after about 2,5 months of wear(about once or some times twice a week) shined and mirror shined at the toe!

all thoughts are more than welcome!!happy.gif

Indeed, my family gave me a lot when I was young, it's time to reciprocate.

Ching

Youre taking this way too seriously. I pretty much detest (ok, dislike) Aldens as they did not work out for me looks-wise but I have no problem with anyone who posts them. Lots of other great shoes on here.

I don't have the wallet for a lot of shoe shopping so here is some old porn smile.gif
