I don't think these are scotchgrain but rather an unstretched oxhide or buffalo perhaps. Lotion them by hand rubbing the lotion into the leather and let completely dry a full day or so before brushing. These old leathers get sticky when lotioned and dry slow. I have a few pair similar to these. I love yours. Well done.
