Better pron will come after I return from India. This will have to be 'pre porn' sorry.
Carmina in green (very green) shell.

Very nice! I was just looking at those last night on the website.

It is weird, he must feel like he's flogging a dead horse.

It's interesting that of all the good, possibly great, shoemakers who have come on this Forum (many almost certainly better than I) and just since I have been a member, none have lasted very long.

Admittedly few of them, maybe none of them, would have been so foolish as to try to educate people whose minds are already made up ("don't confuse me with the facts"). Of which there are plenty.

But even with that reticence, they don't seem to find the atmosphere all that congenial. The forum is forced to rely on fanboys, and shoe groupies and unfounded, mostly baseless or third hand opinion.

I have to admit I am getting tired of it, as well.

Or maybe that's just being tired at the end of the day...

(That and the fact that the forum doesn't notify me of responses in threads I'm subscribed to and a consistent basis. Some days, like today, I get one notification for three pages worth of discussion.)

The purpose of this thread is shoe pron in general. All types of shoes, at least "men's clothing" shoes, are welcome. This means old or new, English or Austrian, goodyear or hand welted. The folks who only want to see sleek, new shoes in a thread should start a "sleek, new shoe" thread. This is the big tent thread.

What was that, maybe 20 posts and it was OVER. PLEASE just post pics and stop insulting other people.
Your shoe posts are great. Keep them up. But this kind of stuff, we could do without. Just ignore the haters.

I believe I have the very first pair of AS handgrades, at least the first pair on the forum. This was when they were offered at their intro prices. The prices were raised in part because the quality has been upped significantly between now and then. Now they're bed-lasted and have soles with tighter waists and heels notched where they meet the sole rather than curved. Personally, I prefer the rounded heels aesthetically, but the new ones do take more labor.

To me this means you are getting a fancy sole, and a better spit shine. Even with this said, if you examine an AS and a G&G the G&G still has better finishing. It could be the finishing it could be the leathers, I don't know. This all sticks out in my mind...
I think the leather similarity indicates that they're using extremely high quality leather in both lines, not mediocre leather in both. The handgrades and exculsives have a few significant differences. Such as the ones I explained above (bed lasting, notched heels in the handgrades. The handgrades also have fiddlebacked soles and nicer leather in the toe and heel puffs. The finishing is more than just a spit shine. I believe they dye and burnish them like Ron does or did. The big difference to me is in the arch of the foot. The bed-lasted shoes have smooth arches while the ones lasted by machine have puckered arches.

+1 I don't think I could pull off green shoes, but ever since seeing the green shell sneakers Ron brought to a trunk show, I've wondered...

You were in the sub continent for a pretty good bit this year - where abouts were you?

All over the shop...

NOS Florsheim Royal Imperial gunboats with the usual variables. The seller listed these as #6 Horween shell cordovan, and I do see a great difference when compared to Alden or AE's #8 shades. Much lighter and clearly more reddish. Can't wait to try and break these.

Finally a pair of "Royal Imperials", but I see no difference between these and Florsheim's vintage pairs from Imperial line. I've been told this RI stamp was just a cosmetic marketing gimmick. Someone must know more.

m, I don't know if your hand was forced or not but I must say that I am very disappointed. We were almost back to where we should be ITT and then you come and undo it all with a single statement.

Bizarre... instead of just toning /antiquing the tan to a nice antiqued shade you colour you shoes dark brown...top job but different strokes....
