Haven't had a chance to take pics of new stuff, but just to get this thread moving along (some old and some new although I've posted these before on SF in various threads):

Word. Although the Windsor was a recraft by EG (and I know I talk about these too much), they just really killed it with the HAF sole and light sole edges. I don't think I've ever posted this here, but at GBP 300 for a recraft, I think that qualifies as damage.

You don't have any of this concoction since you have the shoes?

I was promised some, but am still waiting. I was told to use it every tenth wearing or so.

Can you just create a diff thread? or post less old shoes?

Some great pairs lately. Too bad about the whining, though. Beautiful shoes and exquisite craft do not age. This thread is for shoes.

+1 This thread has become an adjunct of the fedora lounge. I have unsubscribed.

no offense. actually, í do not see your point. when we talk about shoes, we talk about craftmanship and tradition and not burning down some bucks, at least this is my pov. sorry for raining on your parade.

I like the ones on the right the best. Druel-worthy u-tips. Interesting that the welt edge is a lighter contrasting color from the uppers... a detail which was very popular in the 40's & 50's.

I have no probelm with "vintage" and would not wish people to see me as opposed to vintage shoes. In clothing, I always draw a distinction between awe inspiring (which is worthy of emulation and described here as porn) and "affectation." Most of the vintage shoes here would, in my opinion, look silly if worn today. Should I get a pair of exquisitely made pilgrim shoes with actual silver buckles? Most of the vintage shoes I have seen here are not exquisite, unique or even great examples of the workmanship of the day. They are, to me, just pictures of old shoes. Could we not have a thread for that???? I will bitch no more on this subject. The cool thing about SF and boards like is the level of democratic (small "d") action on the boards, but it is also a negative at times. I look at the term "porn" to mean something I might covet. I do not covet, and do not understand how anyone can, suede spades from 1940--they are museum pieces not porn. The influence these shoes have on shoe making today might be relevant in a shoe making thread but this is a porn thread (yes, I am violating that intent with this post and I apologize for that.). Post what you want, but the quality of the porn (and the thread) is severly diminished by the number of shoes posted which are the equivalent of bad nudist beach pictures.
