Thanks guys! She normally doesn't get menswear gifts, but she knew a polish box would be something I'd love and my brother (who lurks around here, I have no idea what his username is) helped her pick out the Saphir products.

And yep, she's quite the looker.

My mother bought me an old leather doctors bag as a housewarming gift for me when I moved last year. She knew I was looking for one to put my shoe polishing stuff in. What a woman, my mother, what a woman.

yeah - it's hard to wear plain old C&J after wearing G&G.

But being a 'moral liberal' and 'fiscal conservative' I've somehow managed to discipline myself to saving the G&Gs for 'special days' and wearing C&J most days. But if moola were no object....................

Not feeling the side profile, specifically how the vamp continues straight up to the laces which are both parallel to the sole. See this G&G for comparison:

The G&G shoe looks more like the profile of a foot.

No arguing the G&G isn't a fabulous and elegant shoe. EG, C&J Handgrade and the most of the other shoes you worship so much all suffer from the same "design malady" for the most part. Was it very hard for you to find a criticism amidst all the positive vibes going on, or is that just your personal gift?

But isn't this rather like comparing apples to oranges?

They are so very different in their overall aesthetic concepts.

At least for me that's the case.

Which is not to say that I don't fall down for the G&Gs, because I certainly do.

well said, sir. that g&g shape is gorgeous. there is a very good reason why g&g has become the sf preferred brand.
