[And if that's a bit of paranoia coming out, well, "perfect paranoia is perfect perception."]

And we've been there time and again. Occasionally one has to step in and correct the record, if nothing else. If you poke a hornet's nest...the better part of wisdom is to expect some sort of reaction.

What's more it ...along with the "lateral stiffness" comment...it was baseless and ignorant. Nothing I've ever said would lead to that kind of assumption.

Worse, in the end, it simply plays to the "group think"/mob-mentality that prevails here among those too lazy or to insecure to think objectively.

You just haven't been paying any attention. There are several threads that I started with photos of my work. Another entirely devoted to a pair of chukkas that I was working on/making; and at least one customer from the Style Forum has posted the bespoke shoes he commissioned from me in several (three) different threads. Not to mention more than a few of techniques in detail. Frankly, I suspect that a lot of the carping...whether its directed at my remarks regarding the relative merits of various shoemaking techniques or directed at someone else because they don't subscribe to SF-approved doctrines...begins with a lack of attention. Beyond that... A) I am not an advertiser on the Style Forum. I feel a little uncomfortable promoting my business more than incidentally. B) I am old. I am semi-retired. Until several years ago, I had a four year waiting list for my boots. I am fascinated by high quality shoes but I'm not trolling for business. Just curious...how many "authoritative figures on" tailoring have joined this forum and are still present? Or if present, still dare to offer insights on their Trade in the face of an implacable wall of "don't confuse me with the facts?" I am what I am; it is what it is. But believe it or not, I get enough private mail (and email) thanking me for my willingness to explain, my willingness to take the time...a piece of my life and myself...to offer something more than displaced tweets, that I feel sufficiently appreciated to mostly ignore them as don't like it. Mostly.

I'm a shoemaker not an English teacher. But your point is well taken. If one is going to try to communicate with other people, the starting position ought to be respect enough to proof read. And edit.
