The very reason I sold mine, before I'd even worn them. What a nightmare!

I think this has been discussed before:
- Use neutral for normal scuffs
- If color polish required then you can use tapes
- If you cannot find the appropriate tape (that is not too sticky), polish the dark part first, white part later, and use cotton rags for buffing instead of horse-hair brush.

I personally use neutral all the time. I guess I don't wear them enough to require major color polishing.

How many people remove the laces to polish their shoes?

Not as hard as it sounds, just takes a little extra time.

If I were going to design a shoe it would look EXACTLY like this:

B1L.jpg

Adelaide with short wingtip and short heel counter (short of heel breast) for balance. No broguing or pinking.

I lighten the photo a little to show the detail.

I will be wearing them on Saturday, thanks to DW.

So pretty much EG Southwold without the punches.

I suspect that there are other brands that make an Adelaide with a wingtip as well, but it's not something you see very often for some reason, and even less with a short wingtip.

I own EG shoes, but the Southwold never even crossed my mind when I was discussing the design with DW. I think DW created a much nicer flow to the shape of the wingtip that that of the Southwold however. I also think the shorter heel counter gives better balence to the shoe, than the longer heel counter on the Southwold.

I am also not a big fan of broguing or pinking, as they both get in my way when polishing a shoe. I also like the cleaner look.
