Picture Frames

Thread Starter
I have a large collection of prints and photographs, nothing too special, some family/friends pictures and a bunch of antique maps.
I also have the skills and equipment to make picture frames.
Yet my walls are either bare, or hung with cheap frames.

I know nothing about frames.
All the framing studios/shops I've been too for ideas are full of tacky stuff that looks like it's from Pier 1, or made for real estate staging.
I don't want something overdone, just some simple designs.

Any suggestions?

i think you would have to go custom for the map if they are big. just pick up some things you find interesting in your area. i have some exotic woods, black ceramics, and silver frames all bought from good antique shops around my area. i recently picked up a vintage cartier frame for a good price.
