Dude its funny you mention this because me and my girl were just talking about that! But she usually does 'shit a' or 'shit eh' instead of oh shit. She's german and says it carries over. But it sounds mega canadian to me. She doesn't get it.

it's a difference in communication methods. Women engage in "rapport", where the purpose is to SHARE information. It's sharing of resources and information that gives them a sense of community and safety net/support. Men engage in Rapport, basically the transferance of relevant information or the holding out of information which gives them leverage over one another. You think waht she says is garbage, and it is, but for her it's the ACT of talking and sharing that she uses to build a relationship. In part, accept it, in another part explain to her that your relationship building is more focused on the transfer of useful information, and of course sex

i think it's better you not knowing any of the people or situations beyond what she tells you. you can stay passive and (secretly) disinterested. my wife and i work for the same company, but different departments. she works with many of the same people that i used to in a former job that i had. so when she starts talking about the dumbshits at work, i know all these people and their dumbshit/douche behaviors so i get riled up and start telling my own stories about these same assholes...so now i'm pissed off too
