I think the more appropriate distinction could be between that which appears 'contrived' and what seems more 'real'.

By dint of what we all do on these boards, all or most of our outfits are thought out and considered (which could be interpreted as a 'design philosophy', although I don't think it ever quite goes so deep as this). I think this could be from where any overarching fixation with sprezzatura stems; that is, we are deliberately setting out to create a look of some sort but are conscious of the fact there is a fine - and blurred - line between trying too hard and casual nonchalance.
