Hi there,
I have a pair of Frye Manny Chukkas in Maple that are in a calf shine leather. I'd like to maintain the shine, but not augment it or throw it off, and would ideally like to not alter the color of the shoe. Unfortunately "calf shine vintage leather" is the most detailed description I've been getting.
I'm interested in conditioning and waterproofing the shoe. I figure for conditioning, you can't go wrong with Renovateur. For waterproofing/dressing the shoe, though, I'm a but more befuddled. Something like Montana Pitch-Blend is labeled only for use on "rugged leathers," and while this stuff certainly ain't cordovan, it's definitely soft and not thick like (for instance) Chromexcel. I've heard that Pecard's leather dressing is good, but that that will increase shine a great deal.
Any insight?

EDIT: Frye recommends their conditioning cream, but as far as I can tell this would be no better than Renovateur or some other kind of cream that's known to be better -- unless people have experiences to the contrary.
