Only magazine I read in meatspace is the Economist. Just too long to read online. I also download the audio edition every week to listen to on my way to work. Everything else I read online. I used to get GQ and Esquire, but I started to get pissed when I realized that it was 90% ads and even most of the articles were ads. Every now and again I get one or the other when I build up enough coke points(yeah i pay for things with coke points, so what?). I don't think that they are worth the dollar an issue they charge for them. Not getting an ipad any time soon. The battery life and the fact that it isn't readable in sunlight are dealbreakers for me. I'm in front of a fully-functional computer 12 hours a day. If I was super-wealthy, i might use it as a toilet computer, but for now my laptop will have to do. Usually when I buy books, I try to get them used off Amazon. I am able to get a pretty good selection of books for 1 cent plus shipping. Also, I find that many of the books I like to read aren't even available as Ebooks. If Thomas Pynchon or Gaddis were added, I could really justify getting an ebook reader based on the increased convenience of not having to carry around a 10 pound book. It is almost impossible to save money on books buying these things unless you read one new bestselling hardcover every week. Also, my fingers would have fallen off if I tried to type this post on an ipad.
