it looks like an acura cl.

That's the exact same thing I thought when I saw the rear.

Aha! I knew it looked like an Acura!

Maybe I don't see enough of them here in SA, but looks just like the current model ('07)

Looks good, but I don't know about those wheels. Some blades, or even something like Dayton spokes would look pretty decent.

My first thought was "Acura" also. Of course, one of my friends loves the present-day CLS and our running joke/fightstarter is "Hey, nice Buick". So...at least MB is aiming upward.

IMO finding end product "similarities" between the Merc and the Acrua is a big stretch. The angles in the curvature of the two are not the same, and these differences have an enormous impact on the ultimate look of the silhouette of the car.

I never cared for (worse - I actively dislike!) the CL, and although I have some design comments about the Mercedes pictured here (too much flair over the wheel wells, for example), I find the end product of the two cars to be nothing alike.

That said, while not perfect, overall I like the design of this Mercedes. Somthing about it reminds me of an Astin Martin.

Similarly, I like the design on the 2007 BMW 3 series coupe -- which is a much more appropriately sized coupe in my opinion.

Wait until you see what they did with the ass. I'm so turned off my this design it hurts.

The back of the E92 looks very good in real life.

It lacks flame surfacing.

Seriously, they need to do something completely new. It's pretty, but everything looks like everything else. I blame Lexus.

What happened to this? I don't even think they're handmade anymore for $130,000.

i almost agreed with you, except for one little oversight, imo...

I like it but I have the feeling it's a little bit BMWish...

New CL is damn sexy, nearly everyone here will be loving it when they start seeing them on the road. I happen to be a big fan of coupes and I think you answered your own question. Small coupes can get claustrophobic and big sedans can be too "family" oriented hence the big coupe. I love the intimacy of two door cars in the size of a grand tourer.
