To take this meme further than it ever should have gone

if (due to some convoluted reason i cannot think of at the moment) you could only keep one cookbook, which one would it be?

Page 415 is Tea-Smoked Duck. We must have different versions.

I think I'll flip through this book a bit and make something out of it today.

What edition is it?

I have the 10th anniversary edition.

I'm sure I'll catch grief for this, but I find any book by The Barefoot Contessa to be excellent. Her recipes work and that can't be said for many cookbooks by real chefs. The chefs have the experience, but many of them aren't real good with putting down their work in recipes for 4.

The Professional Chef by the CIA staff.

http://www.amazon.com/How-Cook-Every...6705240&sr=8-2 I just finished making pancakes using the recipe in the book (yeah I know but I'd never actually made them before) and added peaches and blueberries to it. Came out great.

+1 if you want a book about how to cook. It is my go-to because I am not one to follow recipes. If you want a recipe book, it's kind of so/so since everything in it is sized for 50 people.

+1. I have the CIA book and I can't recall the last time I used a recipe from it. My onecookbook, if I were to have one, would be James Peterson's Cooking.
