There's a Self Edge x Iron Heart jean coming out this fall that's 35oz fabric because it's 21oz denim lined with 14oz brushed flannel. The entire jean is then waterproofed using the same technology that was originally made for the Japanese Winter Olympic team.
If the pricing comes back looking too ugly it'll only be lined and not waterproofed, regardless it won't be inexpensive but the construction on these is on a level which even we have never seen before.

Here's the link I forgot in the esquad post:
http://www.esquad.fr/

They apparently are made with some sort of mixed aramid/cotton thread - so no inserts needed. Ducati subcontracted a jean to them for a year, but that seems to have vanished.

Iron heart is the probably the most expensive brand of plain jeans selfedge is running with.
Plain here meaning not Mr. Freedom style.

21oz denim lined with flannel and then waterproofed? Sounds WAY too warm to me for most of the year, unless I'm missing something. I'd much prefer something unlined and wear my Under Armour leggings when I need more warmth.

I ride a Vespa 250 in Miami and short (<30min) highway rides.

I wear a FF helmet with stereo bluetooth, the rest of the time regular street clothes. Too damn hot for protective gear beyond the helmet FOR ME. I applaud ATGATT folks but I'm not willing to do that. Plan on getting a Triumph Bonneville in the next year or two and would purchase a jacket to use on highway/long rides and probably use my boots for the same.

Rev-It makes a really cool Trialmaster-style jacket in matte nylon with armor, if you're into that type of thing. The actual Trialmasters don't offer a ton of real impact or abrasion protection. Better than nothing, but not optimal.

Armored Belstaffs in the UK

Armored Belstaffs in the US

High price but I would buy one if I could afford one. They cost about the same as a regular Belstaff and you can also get armored versions in leather.
