Pant Configuration for a 3 piece suit??

I recently ordered a suit with a vest but was not sure what the configuration for the pants should be. I would be wearing the suit quite often without a vest and was not sure if my pants should be made with or without belt loops. Normally, I wear suits with a belt but in the case of a 3 piece would I need to use braces or side adjusters? If so, would I include belt loops? Would the side adjusters acts in lieu of belt loops when not wearing the vest? Thanks for your help in advance. I'm new to vests.

I usually have them made with loops anyways so that if I wear it as a two-piece I can use a belt if I want to.

Certainly no belt with waistcoat. But it's OK to have the loops if you really want them.

Thanks for replying to my post. Are the belt loops out of place on a 3 piece or will it even matter since it cannot be seen?

In the case I would wear a 3 piece as a 2 piece, should side adjusters be used to avoid belt loops when worn as a 3 piece?

I like side adjusters for suits in general.

Side adjusters, but cut for braces.

The trouser waist should fit well enough that you do not rely on a belt or side straps to hold them up. Belt under the vest can be bulky and effect the way the vest lies. If you get belt loops and don't wear a belt with the vest on, it's no big deal.

Thanks for replying to my post. From the responses I've gotten so far and from what I've read on this forum, my understanding is that belt loops will be okay if you are planning on wearing a 3 piece suit as a 2 piece. However, the pants should fit well enough that when wearing the vest you could go without a belt.

Do most people wear 3 piece suits with braces? I never wear braces and didn't know if I had to for a 3 piece. If you're not and need a tighter fit are side adjusters the preferred choice?

Thanks again.

Thanks for replying to my post. So the belt loops are hidden by the waistcoat and cannot be seen. Makes sense. Are the pants well fitting enough that they can be worn without a belt? Are belt loops ever used in conjunction with side adjusters to adjust fitting but allowing the person to forgo a belt with a vest?

is it really that bad to not wear a belt even with a two piece? i mean even if you have the belt loops do you have to put a belt through them?

I guess not. I personally wouldn't wear pants with belt loops without a belt unless they were covered by a vest potentially. But that just me and obviously I'm a total newb.

I prefer all suits equipped with side adjusters and buttons for braces. If I wear it with a waistcoat I wear braces. If without the waistcoat, I use the side adjusters. I never wear a belt with a suit.

Thanks for replying to my post. I ordered a vest with my MTM suit but was uncertain how the back was going to look like. Does it have that strap for tightening like I remember with Tuxedo rentals? I think the front is a tad longer. Does the back just come down low enough to cover wear the belt loops would be?

I would still get them with loops, you can wear braces with them along side the vest if you wish but it really isn't necessary. If you are partial to belts then wear belts.

Belt with a vest is okay? That seems like heresy from what I've been reading here.
