Looking for SPAs in NYC

I recently moved to NYC, so I don't know much about what the City has to offer when it comes to SPAs.

The Korean managed "Spa Castle" (http://www.nyspacastle.com/eng/main/main.php) had been recommended, yet I was sadly disappointed after my first visit there. The quantity of various amenities, seems to be prioritized over the quality.

In addition, it also seemed to be a haven for families, so there were plenty of kids running around, just being kids I guess. Leaving me constantly thinking of what other substances there might be in that massaging whirlpool...

Please help me out here, any recommendation is appreciated. It would be great if there's anything situated on a more central location.

Thanks in advance folks!

Hotels have great spas, though I've only ever been to spas in hotels so I don't know if they are as overpriced as most of everything else in hotels. Isn't NYC a hotel hub?

Hotel SPAs are usually a safe bet... But I'm really looking for something more original, since it is NYC...

I'll try a bath house in East Village this weekend (www.russianturkishbaths.com)...
