I watched the video and thought it was cheesy so I didn't download this weeks.

I'm on a new iMac, haven't downloaded anything for torrents, much less set up port forwarding yet, so I haven't gotten to download it.

I would really appreciate it if each week's choosers could upload the MP3s to RapidShare/Mediafire/etc. and post a link, unless the Powers That Be here say they don't want us to. (And if so, upload the file there and then people can PM you for it.)

...wait... you want us to help you steal music? I think that if you aren't willing to do it on your own, I don't think I want to help you. Considering that Utorrent takes about two minutes to download, and ports take about 5 minutes to forward... It seems kind of like you want us to do all the gruntwork for you of downloading an album, and then re-uploading it for your own personal amusement. I'm of the opinion that we don't tell anyone how to go about getting an album, we just present it and everyone who's inclined to participate does so of their own accord. I'm sure all these albums are available on iTunes. I hear your new mac is totally integrated with it.

Gonna need a wench to get that stick out of your ass, dude.

Anything that makes it easier for people to hear the music increases participation. If you prefer it die another slow death, rock on.

^^lol. I did say in my post that if you couldn't get the album, pm me.

Uh yeah, because I'm the guy who's too lazy to steal his own music. Hey, I know! I'm all out of heroin. Why don't you go out and buy some for me and bring it back.

back to the album: I am not much of a jazz person, and when I am, I like it mellow...this was a bit too something for me. Still, not something I would have otherwise listened to, and that's kind of the point, so thanks

It's like jazz played by guys who grew up as b-boys listening to ska and punk, especially 'Satsuriku New Wave', 'I-rony' (drums particularly), 'Crush.' On the whole, it's raucous and fun as long as you don't mind the slightly grating bombastness of their sound. The sound is big between the trumpet and sax which is nicely balanced by the piano. It all has a feel very much like a summer party at its peak when the alcohol is hitting everyone and you're too sweaty to care anymore so you'll dance to everything and you kind of zone in and out of spilling your drink and dancing with whoever you bump into. Maybe I'm just projecting my summer plans for this album onto my thoughts of the album itself.

I like it either way and I like how unpretentious the music is, as pretentious as it might be that we're sitting here talking about it.

ya, I think that's a fair assessment. It still didn't do much for me...to quote you, the "slightly grating bombastness of their sound" was a little more than 'slight' for my taste though.

I like a little (lot) of grit in my music. The rawness of this album actually kept me from filing it away under 'forgettable contemporary jazz/swing.' The unpretentious quality of the music also struck a chord with me, as amnesiac mentioned. They're undeniably making music they genuinely love (you can't get that reach that level of skill otherwise). It might be aggressive and grating, but I don't get the vibe that they're trying too hard, unlike some of the noisier rock acts or cacaphonous free jazz out there. It's just naturally dirty, brings back a hint of degenerate life to a genre otherwise stripped of rebellion.
