It's a toss-up between B and C, as I see it. B is perhaps more flattering, but for that reason also looks a bit like you're really trying to look good. A lot depends on what sort of message you'd like to convey.

I like the effect (though I'd keep the coat a little longer), but can you get that amount of shoulder extension without the shoulders beginning to droop pretty quickly in a rather unsightly way? I'm all for lived-in clothes, but I'm not sure about drooping padded shoulders.

No, that's not what I meant. To disambiguate my statement, there are at least three separable positions one could take here:

(i) One doesn't want to look like he's trying too hard.

(ii) One doesn't want to try too hard.

(iii) One doesn't want to try too hard and look like he's trying too hard.

Which one of those do you find objectionable? Maybe (ii)? Why, exactly?

Clearly if he's paying upwards of $5k for a suit then he would be "trying to look good" along with most of the people that post here. Unfortunately paying $5k for a suit doesn't mean that your automatically going to look good.

The whole trying too hard thing is a canard. It's what jealous people say. How can one try too hard when only wearing a classic grey suit? I can get it when wearing pink satin braces, a bowler hat, a flower en boutonniÃ¨re and a puffy hanky. But trying too hard simply doing one's best to get a classic suit that fits well and somewhat flatters? That's silly. I contend that people generally don't try as hard as they should and very few (here or IRL) should really worry about looking like they are trying to look good.

As for the Foof™, I like it up to the mid section. The shoulders post Foof™ are unnaturally wide.

+1. I usually think Foofed jackets end up with the shoulders too wide, and that's the case here. The lower buttoning point is the key change, and the shorter length looks better too.

As for the un-Foofed versions, I voted for B based on the overall silhouette. I like C's shoulders better.

The extended shoulders make the OP look like a linebacker. Shorter coat makes his upper torso even more boxy. OP has very square shoulders. I think he would benefit from zero padded shoulders that is slightly wider than 'B' or the same width. Trousers can be more tapered on 'B' to give the legs a little more length. Sleeve pitch on 'B' is off.

Normally I am not a big fan of double breasted but I have to say on you it looks good. I like A best out the the three but B is also god not a big fan of C though.
