Eye Twitch

Thread Starter
A couple of months ago I developed a twitch in my left eye. It's not super noticeable, nor is it constant, but it comes and goes throughout the day and is extremely obnoxious. What causes this to happen, and more importantly, how do I get rid of it? Thanks!

It should go away....

A chiropractic adjustment has helped my eye twitching go away if it lingered for more than a few weeks.

I agree that it is stress-related.

I had the same thing until last week. In fact, I'd forgotten I had it until I read this thread.

Seemed the whole world would jump to the right from time to time.

Hmm - I've had this for awhile now. Sometimes it seems it's in both eyes. I'm not stressed out at all - could it perhaps be related to staring at a computer screen all day?

Yes, eyestrain can definitely cause twitching; you might consider a different monitor (eg. bigger so you can be farther away).

it's myoclonus

I was given a laptop for use by a company I was working for. Used it for 2 weeks, then my eyes started twitching. Told them I needed a "real" monitor... got one... twitching stopped.

I had that happen about two or three times back in undergrad. Usually during, or the day after, some all-nighters. Seems to be correlated with lack of sleep. I could also imagine eye strain is a possibility.

This kind of eye disorder can be caused by touching your eye with a finger or other body part that has shit on it. You should stop doing that.

You're thinking of pink eye.

lack of sleep, abnormal sleep hours, computer use for weeks caused eye twitching for me fixed all of them minus computer use but my eye doesn't tweak as much now. back when i had this, everytime i yawned my eye twitched, so i started to get scared from my current habits and fix everything.

Yes, really. If there is a compressed or pinched nerve then an adjustment can help.

your eyelids are controlled by cranial nerve 3 (which you can't get to by any sort of "adjustment" since it's in your skull) and cranial nerve 7, which exits just below your ear. unless they adjusted your TMJ, it was probably placebo
