The B.Scott Thread

B:SCOTT has been a long time in the making. Designer Brandon Scott began his career at San Francisco State University, winning the award for "Most Marketable Designer" in his senior year. This led to an internship with Nice Collective in San Francisco. Having proven his talent to the designers of Nice Collective, they gave Brandon Scott his first job out of college as their design assistant. For the next year, Brandon learned anything and everything from the creative geniuses behind Nice Collective. In 2005, he received an offer to launch an innovative men's line, to be called B.Son, from a well established women's clothing company, Rebecca Beeson. His role was head of design, production and sales, overseeing all aspects of the collection. This positioned him to have a better understanding of how to design a collection, ensure great quality, and sell to the best stores. In 2007, B.Son won Sportswear International's Best New Designer of the Year. In 2009, Brandon Scott launched his own company. B:SCOTT embodies the fusion of Japanese and German aesthetics -- not overdesigning, but rather using lines with a purpose. Architecture is a major inspiration behind this, as Brandon Scott's grandfather, having been trained at the Bauhaus in the 1930's, became a prominent designer and contractor with projects to his name throughout the U.S. Now that Brandon Scott is on his own, B:SCOTT will combine great design with great prices.
so that means no moar B.Son? It says great prices, and the B.Scott items on Tobi are made in China.

No more B. Son is okay with me, B. Son started heading in the wrong direction imo. I'm going to hope B:SCOTT takes back the coolness of B. Son a few years ago, but made in China is sketching me out. I have 3 items that are BSon x UO (copped for $15-20 each, love it) 2 are made in SF and 1 is made in China. The made in SF ones have thick nice fabric, have kept their shape wonderfully, and have had no defects whatsoever. All the buttons have fallen off the made in China one, and after one wash, it's getting a little misshappen. I know things can be made well in China, but I really really really was not impressed. Edit: Just looked at the first B:Scott stuff, bores me mostly. The double mock cardigan isn't bad, but is just missing the mark a little for me, especially at that price made in china.

The stuff on Tobi looks flimsy even in the pictures. Bleh

As other people have pointed out, Made in China is not necessarily an indicator of quality. I'm not arguing for or against the quality of the brand, just noting that Made in China doesn't really tell you anything.

Was going to order this until I saw that they had 18 of them in my size.....think I'll wait for a flash sale That said, I do like B.Son and wished more stores still stocked it.

Just got word:

Yes.
Brandon went to great lengths to find a factory that produced on the same level as his U.S. one did.
We would not stock it if this was not the case.

I dug some of the basic B.Son Ts. I guess I'll wait and see how these pan out.

Context collabs are almost always, if not always, excluded from flash sales.

Maybe it's just the pose, but the pattern above the pockets seems to juxtapose the rest of the pattern in such a way that it looks like the front of a bra.

Yah, and all my buttons fell off my BoO oxford, so take that as you will. ^ that shirt is nice except for the line of the flaps on the pockets, the way they are rounded makes them so effeminate [booblike]

The stuff on context looks really bad. They probably started off as really good concepts but their excution is terribe imo.
